Privacy Policy

This section contains the privacy policy for the ScriptWeavers website and every associated downloadable desktop software, as well as tools that are used online. It covers what info is collected, how it is used, how it is stored, and your rights regarding your personal data. The privacy policy applies to all visitors, registered users, and customers. It also covers how downloadable software handles data locally on your machine, and how online tools process any data you provide. Topics include account and billing data, license validation, cookies, data retention, third party data sharing, and your rights under GDPR. The privacy policy is reviewed and updated when required to reflect any changes in practices or legal requirements

ScriptWeavers Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Account and Billing: When you make a purchase or subscribe to a service on the ScriptWeavers website, we collect certain personal information necessary to process your order and deliver the product. This includes your full name, email address, and billing details. All payment processing is handled entirely by our third-party payment providers, Stripe and PayPal. We do not store full credit card numbers, CVV codes, or complete payment credentials on our servers at any point during or after the transaction. The only payment-related information we retain is a truncated card reference, a transaction confirmation ID, and the details required to fulfill your order, issue refunds if applicable, and maintain accurate financial records.

Account Registration: When you create an account on the ScriptWeavers website, we store your chosen username, your email address, and an encrypted version of your password. Passwords are never stored in plain text and are hashed using industry-standard cryptographic algorithms before being saved to our database. Your account information is used to provide you with access to purchased products, downloadable files, license keys, order history, and any other account-specific features available on the website. Your email address may also be used to send you transactional messages such as order confirmations, license key delivery, download links, and password reset instructions.

License Validation: To prevent software piracy, unauthorized sharing, and abuse of license keys, our downloadable software may collect a unique Hardware ID, commonly referred to as HWID, from your machine during the activation process. This identifier is generated from non-personally-identifiable hardware characteristics of your device, such as a combination of system component identifiers that together create a unique fingerprint for that specific machine. The HWID is used solely to verify that your license key is active, valid, and linked to an authorized device. Each license permits activation on a limited number of devices as specified at the time of purchase, typically three devices per license. The HWID is stored on our license validation server and is associated with your license key record, not with your personal identity or any other personally identifiable information.

Usage Logs: For online tools and services accessed directly through the ScriptWeavers website, we may log certain technical information to maintain the security and stability of our servers. This information can include your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page or tool you accessed, the date and time of access, and the referring URL that led you to our website. These logs are collected automatically by our web server software and are used exclusively for the purposes of preventing abuse, detecting unauthorized access attempts, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring overall server stability and performance. Usage logs are retained for a limited period as described in the Data Retention section of this policy and are never used for marketing, advertising, user profiling, or behavioral tracking purposes.

Communication Data: If you contact ScriptWeavers via email, through the contact form on the website, or through any other communication channel, we retain the content of your message, your email address, any file attachments you include, and any metadata associated with the communication. This information is retained for the purpose of responding to your inquiry, providing support, resolving issues, and maintaining a record of the correspondence for future reference in case follow-up communication is needed.

2. Downloadable Software and Scraping

Local Execution: Our downloadable tools, including but not limited to Reddit Raider, Website Warrior, Content Culler, and Media Manager, are designed to run entirely on your local hardware. These applications operate on your own machine and connect to external platforms and websites directly from your device using your own internet connection. ScriptWeavers does not collect, intercept, monitor, view, analyze, or store any of the data you scrape, download, organize, sort, categorize, or otherwise process using our software. All scraped data, downloaded files, images, videos, configuration settings, application preferences, and locally generated databases remain exclusively on your machine at all times and are never transmitted to, uploaded to, or accessible by ScriptWeavers servers or personnel in any way.

No Telemetry: Our downloadable software does not include any form of telemetry, analytics, usage tracking, crash reporting, or behavioral monitoring. We do not monitor how frequently you launch or use the software, which features or functions you access, how many files you download or process, how long your sessions last, or any other data related to your usage patterns or behavior within the application. The only outbound network connection the software makes to ScriptWeavers servers is for the purpose of license key validation as described in Section 1 of this policy. No other data is transmitted to our servers during the use of the software.

Third-Party Compliance: You are solely and entirely responsible for complying with the Terms of Service, acceptable use policies, community guidelines, rate limits, and any other applicable rules and regulations of the platforms and websites you interact with using our software. This includes but is not limited to Reddit and any other websites, forums, galleries, or online services that you choose to access through our tools. ScriptWeavers is a tool provider and does not condone, encourage, facilitate, or take responsibility for any misuse of the software that violates third-party policies, intellectual property rights, copyright laws, or any other applicable local, national, or international laws and regulations. You acknowledge and accept that the use of automated scraping and downloading tools may violate the terms of service of certain platforms, and you accept full and complete responsibility for any consequences, penalties, or legal actions arising from your use of the software.

Open Source Components: Some of our software products may include or depend upon open source libraries, frameworks, or other components developed and maintained by third-party developers and communities. These open source components are governed by their respective licenses, such as the MIT License, the Apache License, the GNU General Public License, or other applicable open source licenses. Copies of these licenses and attribution notices are included with the software distribution in the relevant documentation or license files. The inclusion of open source components in our software does not affect how we handle your personal data as described in this privacy policy, and these components do not collect or transmit any personal information to ScriptWeavers or to the maintainers of the open source projects.

3. Online Software and Tools

For software and tools that are executed directly on our web servers or within your web browser through the ScriptWeavers website, any data you input, upload, paste, or otherwise provide is processed in real-time for the sole purpose of delivering the specific functionality you requested. This includes but is not limited to file format conversion, image resizing and processing, duplicate file detection and comparison, bulk file renaming, and any other utility services that may be offered on the website at any given time.

Browser-Based Processing: Many of the free online tools offered on the ScriptWeavers website are designed to operate entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript and related browser technologies such as the HTML5 Canvas API and the File API. When you use these browser-based tools, all processing happens locally on your device within the memory and processing environment of your web browser. Your files, images, and data never leave your device and are not transmitted to, uploaded to, or processed by our servers at any point during the operation. Once you close the browser tab or navigate away from the tool, all data held in browser memory is released and becomes unrecoverable. No data from browser-based tools is stored, cached, logged, or backed up on our servers or any third-party servers.

Server-Based Processing: For online tools that require server-side processing due to the nature of the operation or the computational resources needed, any files or data you upload to our servers are processed immediately upon receipt. Once the processing is complete and the result has been delivered to you for download or display, the uploaded files, the processed output files, and any temporary files created during the processing operation are deleted from our servers. In all cases, any user-submitted data is permanently removed from our servers within a maximum of 24 hours from the time of upload, regardless of whether the processing was completed successfully or encountered an error. We do not retain, review, analyze, inspect, copy, or create backups of any user-submitted data beyond the brief period required to perform the requested operation and deliver the result to you.

No Data Mining: We do not examine, scan, analyze, or use the content of files you upload to our online tools for any purpose other than performing the specific operation you requested. Your files are not used for machine learning training, content analysis, statistical research, advertising targeting, or any other purpose beyond the immediate service you requested.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, rent, license, or otherwise commercially distribute your personal data to any third parties under any circumstances. Your personal information is not a product, and we do not treat it as one. We only share information with the following categories of service providers, and only to the minimum extent strictly necessary to operate our business and deliver our services to you:

  • Payment Processors: We use Stripe and PayPal to securely handle financial transactions, process payments, issue refunds, and detect and prevent fraudulent purchases. When you make a purchase, your payment information is transmitted directly to these payment processors through their secure payment forms and APIs. These providers operate under their own privacy policies, maintain their own data security practices, and are fully PCI DSS compliant, meaning they adhere to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard for the protection of cardholder data.
  • License Management Systems: We use a license management system integrated with our website to generate unique license keys, deliver those keys to customers upon purchase, validate license keys when our software is launched, manage device activations and deactivations, and enforce the activation limits associated with each license. The license management system stores your license key, the associated order information, and the Hardware IDs of activated devices. This system does not store any other personal information beyond what is necessary for license operations.
  • Web Hosting Provider: The ScriptWeavers website is hosted on server infrastructure provided by a third-party hosting company. The hosting provider maintains the physical servers, network connectivity, and server operating environment. While the hosting provider has physical access to the server hardware, they do not have direct access to the contents of our application databases, encrypted files, or customer records stored within our applications. Our hosting arrangement includes contractual obligations regarding data protection and confidentiality.
  • Email Service Provider: Transactional emails including order confirmations, license key delivery notifications, download link messages, password reset instructions, and other essential account communications are sent through a third-party email delivery service. These emails contain only the specific information necessary for the particular communication being sent, such as your name, email address, order details, or license key. The email service provider processes this information solely for the purpose of delivering the email and does not use it for any other purpose.

We do not share your data with advertisers, advertising networks, data brokers, data aggregators, social media platforms, market research firms, or any other entities not directly and necessarily involved in providing our core services to you. We do not engage in cross-site tracking, retargeting, behavioral advertising, interest-based advertising, or any form of user profiling for marketing or commercial purposes.

5. Cookies

Our website uses cookies for essential functionality that is necessary for the website to operate correctly and provide you with the services you expect. These essential cookies enable core features including maintaining your login session so you do not have to re-enter your credentials on every page, preserving the contents of your shopping cart as you browse the website and add products, facilitating the WooCommerce checkout process, and remembering basic site preferences. These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function properly and cannot be disabled without significantly affecting the core functionality and usability of the website.

The types of cookies used on the ScriptWeavers website include the following:

  • Session Cookies: These are temporary cookies that are automatically created when you visit the website and are deleted from your device when you close your web browser. Session cookies are used to maintain your login state throughout your visit, keep track of items in your shopping cart as you navigate between pages, and ensure that form submissions and multi-step processes function correctly. Session cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information and cannot be used to track you across different websites or browsing sessions.
  • Persistent Cookies: These are cookies that remain stored on your device for a predetermined period of time or until you manually delete them through your browser settings. Persistent cookies on our website are used to remember your login credentials if you choose the "Remember Me" option during login, store your site preferences such as display settings, and provide a smoother experience on return visits by recognizing your browser. Persistent cookies on our website have a maximum lifespan as defined by the specific functionality they support and are not used for tracking or advertising purposes.
  • WooCommerce Cookies: These are cookies specifically required by the WooCommerce e-commerce platform that powers our online store. WooCommerce cookies handle shopping cart functionality by remembering which products you have added to your cart, manage the checkout process by maintaining order information across the multiple steps of the checkout flow, track recent product views to enhance your browsing experience, and store a unique session identifier to associate your cart and order data with your browsing session. These cookies are essential for the operation of the online store and are not used for any tracking or marketing purposes.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party cookies for marketing, advertising, profiling, or behavioral analysis purposes. We may use privacy-friendly analytics to monitor general website traffic patterns, but no personally identifiable information is collected through any analytics that may be in use. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time through your web browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies individually or in bulk. Please note that disabling or deleting essential cookies may prevent you from using certain features of the website, including the ability to make purchases, log into your account, or maintain items in your shopping cart.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, accidental or unlawful alteration, unauthorized disclosure, and accidental or deliberate destruction. We take the security of your data seriously and continuously review and update our security practices to address emerging threats and vulnerabilities. The security measures we employ include but are not limited to the following:

  • All data transmitted between your web browser and our servers is encrypted using SSL/TLS encryption protocols. This means that any information you send to us, including login credentials, payment information, and personal details, is encrypted during transit and cannot be intercepted or read by unauthorized third parties. Our website enforces HTTPS connections on all pages, including the checkout process, account management areas, and all other sections of the website.
  • All user passwords are stored using industry-standard cryptographic hashing algorithms. This means that your password is mathematically transformed into an irreversible hash before being stored in our database. Even in the unlikely event of a database breach, your actual password cannot be recovered or reverse-engineered from the stored hash. We never store passwords in plain text or in any reversible encrypted format.
  • Our server software, content management system, plugins, and all associated applications are regularly updated with the latest security patches and updates as they become available. We monitor security advisories and vulnerability disclosures related to the software we use and apply critical security patches as quickly as possible to minimize exposure to known vulnerabilities.
  • Access to stored personal data is restricted through role-based access controls. This means that only authorized personnel with a legitimate need to access specific data for the purpose of providing services, resolving support issues, or maintaining the system are granted access to that data. Access permissions are reviewed regularly and revoked when no longer necessary.
  • Regular backups of our website and database are created on an automated schedule to ensure that data can be recovered in the event of hardware failure, software malfunction, data corruption, or other unforeseen incidents. All backup files are stored in an encrypted format using strong encryption algorithms, and backup storage locations are secured with access controls to prevent unauthorized access. Backups are retained for a defined period and older backups are securely deleted when they are no longer needed for recovery purposes.
  • Our web hosting environment includes firewall protection, intrusion detection monitoring, and brute force attack prevention mechanisms that actively monitor incoming traffic and block suspicious or malicious requests before they reach our application. These security layers provide an additional line of defense against common web-based attacks and unauthorized access attempts.

While we take all reasonable and practical steps to protect your personal data using industry-standard security measures, no method of data transmission over the Internet and no method of electronic data storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure against all possible threats. We cannot provide an absolute guarantee of security, but we are committed to maintaining a high standard of data protection, promptly investigating and addressing any security incidents that may occur, and notifying affected users as required by applicable data protection laws and regulations in the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms.

7. Data Retention

We retain different categories of personal data for different periods of time, depending on the purpose for which the data was collected, the legal basis for processing, and any legal obligations that require us to retain certain records. The specific retention periods for each category of data are as follows:

  • Account information, including your username and email address, is retained in our systems for as long as your account remains active and in use. If you request the deletion of your account, your account information will be removed from our active databases within 30 days of the request, subject to any legal obligations that may require us to retain certain records for a longer period as described below.
  • Purchase records, transaction histories, invoices, and related financial documentation are retained for a minimum period as required by applicable tax, accounting, and financial reporting regulations. These records may need to be retained for several years after the date of the transaction, even if you delete your account, in order to comply with legal obligations related to tax reporting, financial auditing, and regulatory compliance.
  • License validation data, including the Hardware IDs of activated devices, is retained on our license server for as long as the associated license key is active. When you deactivate a device from your license, the corresponding Hardware ID is removed from our records. When you request deletion of your account, all associated license validation data, including all stored Hardware IDs, is permanently deleted from our license management system.
  • Support correspondence, including emails, contact form submissions, and any associated attachments, is retained for a period of up to 12 months following the date of the most recent communication in the conversation thread. This retention period allows us to provide context and continuity in the event of follow-up inquiries, ongoing support issues, or disputes related to previous communications. After the 12-month retention period has elapsed, support correspondence is permanently deleted from our systems.
  • Server logs containing technical information such as IP addresses, browser metadata, access timestamps, and requested page URLs are automatically rotated and permanently deleted after a period of 90 days from the date they were created. During the 90-day retention period, server logs are used exclusively for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and technical troubleshooting purposes as described in Section 1 of this policy.
  • Any data that is uploaded to or processed by our online tools, including uploaded files, processed output files, and temporary files generated during processing, is permanently deleted from our servers immediately upon successful completion of the requested operation, or within a maximum of 24 hours from the time of upload if the operation was not completed for any reason, including processing errors, timeouts, or abandoned sessions. This data is not included in any backup processes and is permanently unrecoverable once deleted.

8. Your GDPR Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or any other jurisdiction that provides similar or equivalent data protection rights under applicable law, you are entitled to exercise the following rights regarding your personal data held by ScriptWeavers:

  • Right of Access: You have the right to submit a request to obtain a complete copy of all personal data that we hold about you. Upon receiving such a request, we will provide you with a comprehensive summary of the personal data we process, including the specific purposes for which the data is being processed, the categories of personal data concerned, the recipients or categories of recipients to whom the data has been or will be disclosed, and the envisaged retention period for each category of data.
  • Right to Rectification: You have the right to request that we promptly correct any personal data we hold about you that is inaccurate, outdated, or misleading. You also have the right to request that we complete any personal data that is incomplete by providing a supplementary statement or additional information. We will process rectification requests without undue delay and will inform any third parties with whom the data has been shared about the corrections made.
  • Right to Erasure: You have the right to request the permanent deletion of your personal data from our systems, commonly known as the "right to be forgotten." Upon receiving such a request, we will delete all personal data we hold about you from our active databases and systems, subject to certain legal exceptions. These exceptions include situations where we are legally required to retain certain records for tax, accounting, or regulatory compliance purposes, or where the data is necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
  • Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive a copy of all personal data you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, such as CSV or JSON. You also have the right to request that we transmit this data directly to another data controller where technically feasible. This right applies to personal data that we process based on your consent or for the performance of a contract with you.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: You have the right to request that we temporarily or permanently restrict the processing of your personal data under certain specific circumstances. These circumstances include situations where you contest the accuracy of the data and we need time to verify it, where the processing is unlawful but you prefer restriction over deletion, where we no longer need the data but you need it for legal claims, or where you have objected to processing and we are assessing whether our legitimate grounds override yours.
  • Right to Object: You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for certain purposes at any time. This includes the right to object to processing for direct marketing purposes, which is absolute and does not require any justification. Please note that ScriptWeavers does not engage in direct marketing activities. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests, in which case we will cease processing unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights, and freedoms.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where any processing of your personal data is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that was carried out based on your consent before the withdrawal. You can withdraw consent by contacting us using the contact information provided at the end of this policy, or by using any specific consent management mechanisms provided on the website.
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: If you believe that your data protection rights have been violated or that we have not adequately addressed your concerns regarding the processing of your personal data, you have the right to lodge a formal complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. The supervisory authority will investigate your complaint and may take enforcement action against us if they determine that we have violated applicable data protection laws.

All data subject requests will be acknowledged and responded to within 30 calendar days of receipt. In exceptional circumstances where the complexity of the request or the volume of requests received makes it impractical to respond within 30 days, this period may be extended by an additional 60 calendar days, for a total maximum response time of 90 days. In such cases, you will be informed of the extension and provided with an explanation of the reasons for the delay within the initial 30-day period. To exercise any of the rights described above, please contact us at mailbox@scriptweavers.com with a clear description of your request. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request to ensure that we are releasing personal data only to the individual to whom it belongs and to prevent unauthorized access to your data.

9. International Data Transfers

The ScriptWeavers website is hosted on servers that may be located in a different country or jurisdiction than the one in which you reside. Additionally, some of our third-party service providers, including payment processors, email delivery services, and other infrastructure providers, may process data in various locations around the world. By using our website, creating an account, making a purchase, or using any of our online tools or downloadable software, you acknowledge and understand that your personal data may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries outside of your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws of your home jurisdiction. Where such international transfers of personal data occur, we take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including where applicable the use of standard contractual clauses, data processing agreements, or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

10. Children's Privacy

The ScriptWeavers website, downloadable software products, and online tools are not designed for, intended for, or directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect, store, or process personal data from minors. We do not create accounts for individuals known to be under the age of 18 or knowingly sell products or services to minors. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a person under the age of 18, we will take immediate steps to identify and permanently delete that information from our systems as promptly as possible. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information to ScriptWeavers without your knowledge or consent, please contact us immediately at mailbox@scriptweavers.com so that we can take appropriate action to remove the information and close any associated accounts.

11. Limitation of Liability

This includes but is not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. ScriptWeavers does not warrant that the software will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. ScriptWeavers is not responsible for any technical issues, software defects, bugs, crashes, data loss, data corruption, system instability, IP blocks, bandwidth throttling, rate limiting, or any other adverse effects resulting from the download, installation, configuration, or use of our software or online tools.

Third-Party Services and Platforms: ScriptWeavers is not responsible for the privacy practices, data handling policies, terms of service, availability, reliability, performance, content, or conduct of any third-party websites, platforms, APIs, or services that you access, interact with, or connect to through our software or online tools. Your interactions with such third-party services are governed solely by the respective policies and terms of those third parties, and ScriptWeavers has no control over and assumes no responsibility for the actions, policies, or practices of any third-party service providers or platforms.

12. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated, modified, or revised from time to time to reflect changes in our data handling practices, the introduction of new services or features, changes in applicable legal or regulatory requirements, or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons that necessitate an update to this document. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date clearly displayed at the bottom of the document. We encourage all users, visitors, and customers to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we collect, use, protect, and handle personal data. Your continued use of the ScriptWeavers website, downloadable software products, and online tools after the posting of any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acknowledgment of and agreement to the updated terms.
